Sheriff's Dept. Correction's Officer resigns for allegedly having sex with female inmate at county jail...

A former corrections officer at the Chautauqua County Jail for more than 20 years faces criminal charges for allegedly having sexual contact with a female inmate.  Sheriff Joe Gerace confirms a grand jury indicted Jeffrey Swan last week.  Gerace says Swan was arrested, arraigned... and, resigned from his job.  Gerace says the accusations were brought to his attention several weeks ago... and, his office investigated along with the District Attorney’s Office.  He adds that Swan has been charged with felony third-degree Criminal Sexual Act.  Gerace would not comment on whether or not the alleged sex was consensual... but, says it's never legal.  Under state law.... he says it is impossible for prisoners to voluntarily consent to sexual advances from staff members who exert complete control over their lives, and sometimes their release from prison.


Tenth defendant arrested for narcotics possession in connection with April 2 drug sweep in Jamestown...

A Jamestown man has turned himself in for allegedly being in possession of narcotics at a residence that was recently raided by city police during a drug sweep.  City Police Captain Bob Samuelson says 36 year-old Cesar Soto surrendered to police Tuesday morning after two warrants had been issued for his arrest.  Soto was not at the 20 Willis Street residence when the raid occured on April 2.  A total of nine people were arrested in four separate raids.  Police found a quantity of heroin... packaging material... an,d prescription drugs at the location.  Soto is jailed pending arraignment.


Cody Family Reunion set for July 24-27 in Jamestown, Chaut. Institution...

It's going to be a family reunion like no other late this July in Jamestown... and, at Chautauqua Institution.  The family of "Buffalo Bill" Cody will be here for the International Cody Family Association Reunion.  The head of the Association, Suzanna Cody, says they hold the event every other year... and, had hoped to hold it here two years ago... but, it didn't work out.  She says there was another event that year that took precidence.  Cody first came to Jamestown after the "Buffalo Bill" poster was found behind a brick wall in downtown Jamestown.  She says the Buffalo Bill Museum was re-installation in Cody, Wyoming that family members felt they should support.  The International Cody Family Association Reunion will be held here July 24 through 27... with activities getting fully underway on Friday, July 25.  That will include tours... and, an Honors Dinner at the Gateway Train Station.  On Saturday... the 26th... Suzanna Cody says there will be a lecture at Chautauqua by the new curator of the Buffalo Bill Museum, Jeremy Johnston.  That night... the Cody Family Association will also attend the Chautauqua Symphony Concert at the Amphitheater that night.  For more information on the Cody Family Reunion... go on-line to www.cody-family.org, or call (408) 221-8625.
