(**Update)Flames destroy Conewango home...

Working smoke detectors are being credited for alerting a Conewango family to a fire inside their Route 62 home this morning.  Cattaraugus County fire dispatchers say crews were called to the scene at 12-520 Route 62 shortly before 10 a.m.  Conewango Fire Chief Raymond McKay says the two-story, wood-frame home was fully engulfed in flames on arrival.  McKay says the family was outside when they and five other companies arrived at the scene.  However... he says due to the older construction of the home... it took a while to bring the flames under control.  McKay says four companies from Cattaraugus County -- Randolph, East Randolph, Leon and Ellington and, Cherry Creek -- at the scene.  Cattaraugus was also called in.  He says they had 45 to 50 firefighters at the scene.  Crews were there for about two hours.  In addition to the occupants... no firefighters were hurt.  However... two pets perished in the fire.  The cause remains under investigation.
